The W&L hosts an annual New Members Day, which offers a day looking behind the scenes to members who joined during the previous year. This update gives an idea of what was going on during that weekend.

Members visited Tanllan shed, a working area which is not normally accessible to the public. This scene shows the visiting engine Chevalier, a cattle wagon, the 'Wasp' personnel carrier (used for works trains) and one of the Pickering replica carriages.

Plenty of effort during the Permanent Way demonstration, where a member is being shown how to remove a chair spike from an old sleeper.

Latest product of the Tanllan workshop - this wagon is an exact replica of one of the original private-owner wagons.

Inside the main workshop No.10 / 699.01 Sir Drefaldwyn is taking shape. It is likely that this locomotive will return to service in the latter part of 2018, after a complete overhaul.

On the way to Tanllan carriage shed and workshops, members pass No. 2 / 823 Countess, standing out of service in the Running Shed. This building enables the footplate crew to prepare locomotives for service in much better working conditions than previously
