Easter 2009

Scenes in black and white as seen at Easter 2009. Traditionally the start of the W&L season, Easter weather can vary a lot in mid-Wales, but the daffodils were all out in flower this time.

The first 2 photos show No.2 / 823 Countess nearing the Coppice Lane summit, always a good spot to show the engine working hard. Photo 3 shows arrival at Cyfronydd later on the same journey.

Next are 2 scenes at Sylfaen, with the small waiting hut and some stabled PW wagons. The loop at Sylfaen is currently disconnected with the points removed. This loop was only generally used for the September Gala weekend, and could be a lonely posting for the blockman.

The north Powys hill-country can be quite dramatic, with this view looking towards Snowdon in the distance. Spring lambs enjoy the weather, and finally, the locks on the Montgomery Canal at Welshpool are all quiet.
