Gallery - 11 - Llanfair and eastwards

On leaving Llanfair, the route runs alongside the River Banwy, then around the Mill curves, on a retaining wall above the river. The first three photos show a morning train leaving the curves and heading for the long straight section from Schoolmistress cottage towards Heniarth. The River Banwy is prone to flooding when there has been heavy rainfall in the hills to the west of Llanfair, and the track can occasionally be submerged in this area. There is no pedestraian access here, so the line can only be photographed from the main road above, as shown here.

These photos were all taken early in the morning in April 2017. The next photos all show shunting activity around Llanfair station. Ifor the Engine is a recent addition, and the play area is sited more or less where the third sleeping carriage, used for volunteers' accommodation was sited. This became redundant when Keyse Cottage was built in the early 1990s.
