The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway was opened in 1903, built to serve the farming community in rural mid-Wales. The line never made a profit, and passenger services were withdrawn in 1931. British Railways closed the line in 1956, but a group of enthusiasts were keen to save the line, and it reopened in 1963. Over 50 years since that momentous time, the railway goes from strength to strength, operated by volunteers between the outskirts of Welshpool and the market town of Llanfair Caereinion.
This photo album aims to show the railway in the rolling hill country of the County of Powys. To visit the line and find out more about train services, visit the Company's website by clicking this button:  www.wllr.org.uk
