The annual Steam Gala weekend has, for many years, taken place in early September, along with the garden railway show at the nearby school in Llanfair. 

These busy scenes date from 2005; the weekend has recently been extended to include Friday, with extra attractions, and the return of a visiting steam engine. 

The weekend sees all available rolling stock in action, or on display. The workshops are also open, including the Tanllan area, where stock is stabled and which houses the Carriage & Wagon Department. This area is normally only seen by participants on the annual New Members Day, as part of this event which takes new members behind the scenes.
