Steam Gala weekend 2007

A busy few days at the 2007 Steam Gala included a wedding party charter train, seen heading for, and arriving at Raven Square. The special Gala timetable provided for one engine to lay over before taking up the following working, giving the unusual sight of two engines in steam together. The 3 Pickering replica carriages see use on the Vintage weekend services, and provide a different travelling experience to the Austrian and Hungarian carriages which see most use.

The Resita loco, No.19 is seen here at speed on a return working. It had an uneven career, suffering a number of problems culminating in damage to the motion, after which the loco was sold. The low headroom is apparent here, and made for a cramped footplate for some drivers.

Finally, No.1 Earl is seen passing Dirty Lane farm crossing, where more drainage work has been needed recently. Every railway needs a storage area or scrapyard - this W&L store is at Cyfronydd.
